Close the flumes! The Warlord of the Blackrock is finally, mercifully defeated.
We had to restructure our strategy on this fight multiple times to account for comp changes, and dealt with a variety of stupid problems ranging from bad internet, to shady recruits, to flying mushrooms and beyond. All in all this was a well-designed encounter, and I don't think anybody was particularly bored with it—unlike Imperator—despite the lengthy time we were working on it.
We had a rough time of it this tier; a significant portion of the raid group turned over, and while we like our latest additions, it made for a difficult progression path. From spending extra nights wiping to fights like Thogar and Gruul with new tanks only to have them immediately quit, to building a strategy around a few key people who then abruptly stopped logging on, it has been a tough couple of months—and thanks to Sweetyhunter for filling a spot and keeping our raids going multiple times! Still, Blackrock Foundry will go down as a decent raid instance, much more fun than Highmaul and certainly challenging.
Now we turn our sights towards Hellfire Citadel, with a bit of a break and some recruitment in between. Fire up the deli slicers!
Blackhand's Furnace really wasn't as difficult as we thought it would be; most of our time was spent overcoming the usual round of late-tier player vanishing. Apparently jobs, spring breaks, school, and other unimportant things have taken their toll on our otherwise hardy group. No matter, though, as we have some new faces and look forward to finishing the tier with a bang!
Apparently we were one of the few guilds actually doing this fight normally and without cheesing the last phase, so we got to have a lot of fun with all three bosses sub-20%. It's like they say: "If you can dodge a ball, you can dodge a dominator blast!"
(Sadly, most of our raid was picked last for dodgeball at recess...)
