It's like we just woke up from a nightmare, in which we were raiding the same content over, and over, and over for what seemed like forever...
Oh, wait. That actually happened.
There once were some druids from KJ
Who raided well in every way
But they kept damaging the adds
And were labeled as bads
So they reformed <illest> without delay
Sadly, the day has come: we have stopped raiding, likely for good.
I knew that at some point I would be making this post, and had hoped that we'd make it to the end of Mists of Pandaria, but alas, we gambled on a few new members and lost in a big way. Combining that with Blizzard's allowing horde to become the dominant raiding faction, we found ourselves unable to attract people to our faction or server, and 10-man raiding has been much more difficult this tier than 25-man, meaning we had everything stacked against us. Rather than clinging to hope and taking a step backwards, we collectively and basically unanimously decided that it was time to throw in the towel.
On a personal level, it's been almost six years to the day since I embarked on making my own guild, back when this website belonged to <Reanimated> on Burning Legion (you can see those original posts in the links at the bottom of this page). Between then and now we've had some great accomplishments, some really depressing lows, and everything in between. Some may say that video games are a waste of time, but I beg to differ; we've forged what I think and hope will be lifelong friendships and have some great stories and wonderful memories of everything we've done in game.
I especially want to thank the people who followed me from Burning Legion to Kil'jaeden to form <illest>: Chreese, Greenhaze, Farmergregor, Peach, and West; and then further Bearwyn and Shamrockz, two excellent players we met during our time here, as well as our friend Xwn who never stopped cheering for the guild through thick and thin. To everybody else who we played with on KJ, as well as those we remember from BL, thanks for the memories and we hope to run into you again in the future. You can always find us in the forums.
Farewell, World of Warcraft. It's been fun.
