We just pretended we were fighting Shamrockz and his slightly-more-evil twin. It worked wonders!
We started to clear out the instance on normal mode since we're already past the number of hours we wanted to spend in here this week -- thanks again for the Galakras bug, Blizzard -- but decided to take a look at General on heroic. As it turns out, the fight is pretty easy! We almost killed it a few pulls in and then spent the next hour exploring light sockets.
We zoned in on Thursday and, much to our surprise, the doors to the towers on this encounter would not open. It seems that the issue only affected guilds that had cleared 4/13 heroic, pulled Galakras, and then allowed the instance to reset. Uggh. What made it even more frustrating is that GMs seemed to selectively respond to some guilds and fix their instances, while we sat around for a few hours trying different things with no luck. Finally we saw that a hotfix was being applied and decided to re-form the raid on Friday; not a normal raid day for us and not something we really wanted to do, but didn't want to lose one of our few days of progression either.

As usual, after pulling it once or twice and almost killing it, we then tried a bunch of nonsensical changes before settling on "play better" and getting a kill. My opinion? Yet another dumb gimmick fight.
